Who we are
Kerry and I both immigrated to the United States from Northern
Alberta, Canada, via California in 1985. However yearly trips to visit
relatives was way too long a drive, so in 1995 we moved to North Idaho.
It was one of the best decisions we ever made.
We homesteaded 5 bare acres and Kerry worked as an Appliance
Repairman and built 2 homes while I had and raised 10 children,
homeschooled and developed our acreage.
In 2015 we began to dream of starting a farm on 10 acres
across the road. We cleared 2.5 acres of land.
McKerracher Family Farm was founded in 2016 with our first planting of blueberries and vegetables and selling at our local farmers market and wholesale to High end Spokane restaurants.
In 2018, we sold our 5 acres, Kerry retired and we moved onto our
farm full-time. We began building a new home and putting up hoop houses
and a processing center on our farm.
In 2020 we hired our first employee and started our
first few CSA's.
We also raise pastured poultry available by pre-order only.
Our mission is to reconnect people to their farmer and to their
food - - by teaching people to eat well, by stewarding the soil, tapping into
the gifts of our community, and ultimately expanding the local direct sales to our consumers..
